Day 3- San Antonio

Day 3: San Antonio

Welcome to the third day blog of this trip!! Unfortunately, the blog only gets worse from here because this is the last time the Bashfuls will write. Today was a loooong driving day so there's not as much to write about, but we'll do our best to tell you about all the fun we had.

The girls were beyond prepared this morning, taking showers and braiding each others hair before our designated wakeup time. The boys on the other hand were quite sluggish this morning because they decided to stay up late having “bro talk."

The cooks passed out strawberry pop tarts and apples for breakfast today. Some people in the group also added to their breakfast wakeup meal with snacks from the gas station. We had a traveling lunch, too. We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but the bread was left in the bottom of the bag so all of our sandwiches were crushed and deformed. The pretzels that weren’t put in the mouths of sleeping campers were our side.

Some sleeping t-dubbers...

The first stop in San Antonio was the Alamo, this was cool to see and learn the history!!! When free time was given, Jake Inman, Zach Storms and Monte got matching San Antonio shirts and changed in the middle of the park into their new shirts. The riverwalk was the highlight of the day today and everyone loved it and the free time we had to walk around!! Audrey Beaty, Madalynn Powell, and McKinely Beaty found SUPER refreshing and REAL Mexican food! We met in the middle to cheer “Kat Daddy” or Monte/Kenny Fleming on while he danced in the pavilion with street performers!!!!

On Carolina Girl (the black van), Jake Inman decided to sleep for 4 hours, and the last hour of slumber he woke up with pretzels on his head, in his shirt and in his hands. Others on the bus played rummy, mafia and go fish. Carson C. tried ranch and hated it. The whole bus helped counselor Daisy complete a crossword puzzle in a newspaper Miss V picked up today. Most of us tried to catch up on sleep because the guys didn’t go to bed until around 2AM. The AC was barely functional, and we started sweating on the way to Schreiner University.

For dinner, the cooks made turkey wraps for the people that didn’t eat Tex Mex in San Antonio. The Riverwalk was a popular spot to eat. Today was the last day that Happys cooked. We enjoyed the delicious food but we are ready for the challenge to do better. ;)

We were welcomed in the gym by Daniel, the student ambassador. Miss V briefed us on the Grand Canyon and told us about struggling campers in the past. It changed a lot of our minds about what we were capable of hiking at the Grand Canyon but made us more excited as they described the beautiful view regardless of how far we hiked. There were community showers at Schreiner University. The guys were super excited for these showers!!!!!! LOL NOT. The girls found this super funny.
